FAQs

What is Sound Therapy or a Sound Bath Session?

Sound therapy is a a immersive and healing experience where your mind and body are bathed in a music and the soothing vibrations of special meditative instruments tuned to 432 hz. During a sound bath you will be first guided in gentle movement to prep your mind and body to better recieve the vibrations and sounds. Next, you will be asked to lay down and close your eyes, while you are guided in a relaxing meditation, guided imagery or intention setting process, to help you feel more relaxed, and then the sound bath will begin! As you lay there you will be listening to soothing sounds from instruments like gongs, singing bowls, drums, or chimes. These sounds will be tuned to 432 hz, as research shows that music tuned to this pitch can help reduce stress, pain, heal the body and quiet down a busy mind, since this frequency is said to be in harmony i with the rhythms of the natural world. You will end each session with a closing ritual, journaling or art, and a light refreshing beverage and will be sent on your way feeling more at peace, calm, and connected to your body, and your personal vision, feeling more nourished from the inside out, until we meet again.

What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS)?

“The biggest difference between a CNS and an RDN is the content they’re exposed to during their education and internship training. An RDN is trained in conventional medicine, which means they are trained to follow the USDA’s guidelines. Their training incorporates more general recommendations for the population at large rather than personalized nutrition.

CNSs are trained in functional medicine, which looks for the root cause of imbalance or disease and acknowledges that a person’s bio-individuality might not fit the mold of conventional medicine recommendations. This means a CNS doesn’t usually support USDA recommendations, does not usually recommend counting calories, and looks for more outside-the-box solutions.

You will often find an RDN who has stepped outside of conventional medicine to learn and practice integrative and functional medicine, but you are unlikely to find a CNS who practices conventional medicine.”
